“Riyadh Green” is one of the four major Riyadh projects launched by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud—may Allah support him—initiated by His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince and Prime Minister—may Allah protect him. The project aims to plant more than 7.5 million trees across Riyadh, establish 43 major parks, more than 3,300 neighborhood parks, and green 9,000 mosques, 1,670 government facilities, 6,000 schools, 390 healthcare facilities, and more.

The Riyadh Green Program aims to increase the city’s green coverage to 9.1% of its total area and raise the per capita share of green space from 1.7 m² to 28 m²—16 times its current level—enhancing Riyadh’s urban environment through neighborhood greening initiatives. The program also contributes to achieving the goals of the Saudi Green Initiative and Saudi Vision 2030, which aims to plant 10 billion trees across the Kingdom in the coming decades.

Additionally, the program seeks to utilize every drop of treated water for irrigation and greening by increasing the reuse rate of treated wastewater to 100%. This is supported by the development of the largest treated wastewater network to sustain afforestation projects across the city. The construction of this extensive network, spanning over 1,350 km, has already begun to support the city’s natural areas and afforestation objectives.
