About the Sustainability Program
The Royal Commission for Riyadh City has developed the Riyadh Sustainability Program to ensure the sustainability of the environment, resources, and natural assets for future generations, in alignment with the targets of Saudi Vision 2030 and the Saudi Green Initiative. The program also aims to address the environmental challenges facing the city and leverage best practices to contribute to the creation of environmental economic opportunities.

Renewable Energy
To make Riyadh one of the leading cities in sustainable energy by covering the city’s electricity needs through the use of renewable energy sources and reducing carbon emissions.
Climate change
We aim to reduce carbon emissions in the city of Riyadh as part of the Kingdom’s efforts to achieve net zero by 2060
Air Quality
The goal is to maintain air quality and reduce the impacts of noise and light pollution through plans and programs for monitoring pollutants and their sources, as well as developing methodologies and regulations to limit and mitigate them
Water Resources Management
We aim to preserve water resources through programs to rationalize consumption, reduce water network losses, and reuse treated water at a rate of 100% for irrigation purposes
Waste Management
We aim to reduce the daily production rate of municipal solid waste in Riyadh, recycle and reuse it, as well as utilize waste for electricity generation
Natural Areas and Biodiversity
We are working to increase the overall green spaces in the city of Riyadh, rehabilitate and protect wildlife that has deteriorated due to urban expansion, as well as encourage residents to adopt healthy behavioral patterns
