As part of the city’s efforts to promote environmental sustainability, reduce emissions, and keep pace with urban and population growth, numerous projects have been launched to enhance sustainable mobility. Among them is the King Abdulaziz Public Transport Project (Metro and Buses) in Riyadh, with a total capacity of 1.7 million passengers per day.

All phases of the “Riyadh Bus Project” have been launched, completing the main network that includes 54 routes with a total length of over 1,900 km, served by 679 buses across 2,145 stations and stops. In addition, the Riyadh Metro has been launched, featuring 84 stations along 6 lines with a total length of 176 km.

The project aims to achieve sustainability in the urban transport sector of the capital. The Riyadh Metro network plays a vital role in reducing greenhouse gas emissions, as it is expected to eliminate approximately 2.2 million conventional vehicle trips from the roads each day.

Additionally, Riyadh’s bus network applies the latest Euro 5 low-emission fuel efficiency standards, contributing to the reduction of carbon dioxide emissions in the city by around 1.4 million tons annually.
